Punxsutawny Phil famously predicted an “early end to winter” this year.
I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what that means. First, consider the alternative–six more weeks of winter. By my calculations six weeks of winter would put the end at around March 16.
The Spring Equinox is not until March 20–so six weeks is actually a bit early, isn’t it? So maybe Phil meant like March 19.
I’m thinking either the “early end to winter” prediction means some time before March 20 or Phil sells used cars when he’s not hibernating.
Judging from the view outside my front door, winter isn’t going away any time soon.
I think I’m going to ignore Phil’s sketchy prediction. March–in like a lion, out like a lamb. Now there’s a reliable predictor.
What’s your prediction? Will this winter ever end?
