The Red Sox saved their first win of the season until they were facing the Yankees. That victory is double-sweet for Sox fans who count every Yankees loss as a win for the good guys–Truth, Justice and the American way.
It’s a variation on theory of relativity. One win can make up for six losses–if it’s the right win. One day of sunshine helps us forget a week of rain. The sun seems to burn brighter. Green leaves shimmer like jewels. After days of dark clouds hanging close to the earth, clear skies open to forever.
One win shouldn’t mean so much over the course of a long season and one day of sunshine doesn’t seem significant in the great scheme of things. Yet experience belies logic.
